I've raised £10000 to create a wheelchair friendly decking area accessible from the lounge so Ali can enjoy the view and tranquillity during her palliative care.

As many of you know I have been fighting Leiomyosarcoma, (LMS), a very rare, incurable cancer since 2009. During that time, there have been numerous surgeries, treatments and just about every conceivable procedure available in order to prolong life. There does come a point where quality of life has to outweigh quantity though. The decision was made to bring forward the 'retirement' plans and get the dream cottage by the sea, complete with an amazing view. The property is old though and has taken all our funds, just to make it habitable and suitable for a disability. The peace and tranquillity has many healing powers and can certainly be a great stress reliever which is SO important when cancer is involved. The move has given me the strength and motivation to fight the inevitable.
The tumours were so serious that they broke both of my legs which resulted in five operations, radiotherapy, serious sepsis infection and emergency hospital treatment. With this life threatening development comes the realisation that I am now nearing the inevitable end of this fight. I have no idea how long I've got and treatment is now for palliative care only. I am where I want to be, at home for care and peace of mind. Due to the location of our house and the many steps involved to get to it I am now housebound apart from essential ambulance transfers.
Our plans were to create a decking area which is wheelchair friendly, accessible through new French doors with all the necessary structural modifications so that I can sit outside or see the view from inside, whatever the weather and savour the view and atmosphere. Sadly due to my rapidly declining health we just won't have the funds available to build this in time.
If any of you can find it in your hearts to donate towards this fund, any amount no matter how small would be appreciated. Collectively, small amounts can become large enough to fulfil my ambition and give me the pleasure of enjoying what remains of my life to the maximum within my limitations.
Thanks for reading, love to you all .. believe in miracles. Cancer sucks! xx
