Story

Please take a moment to read…

Abi and I have decided that this summer, (2019) after we have finished University we would love to volunteer abroad. After a long process of thinking and planning we have decided we are going to volunteer in Madagascar, to help with a care based placement. This interested us as we are both training to be Primary School teachers and think that this will be a fantastic opportunity to support the children and their families in Madagascar in the variety of ways that the project offers.

We will be contributing to the children’s educational development in care centres by working with children from underprivileged backgrounds, this would require us caring for street children and those with varying mental and physical disabilities. It is noted that volunteers make an extremely worthwhile contribution providing help to the local staff who are overworked.

69% of the diverse population live below the national poverty line which is one of the many reasons we have chosen to volunteer in this specific area. We think that from our personal experiences we would be able to create a positive impact to the members of this community.

The project is all organised by Projects Abroad, however we must raise the money ourselves in order for the project to go ahead. Being students on a full-time course neither of us have jobs worthy of supporting this cause. This is why we have created this page, we will also be fundraising alongside this as much as we can, and we would really appreciate any donations that you can offer – every little helps! Thank you so much for your support.

(we have combined our end goals to make it simpler for fund raising purposes)
