Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page.
I would like to raise at least £2500 for St Dorcas Orphanage & Education Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.
In August 2017, I visited Africa for the first time and spent almost 3 weeks volunteering in Nairobi, Kenya. I spent the majority of my time volunteering at St Dorcas Orphanage and quickly realised that I could make a big difference in a short space of time by fundraising among close friends and family.
This August, I'm going back to Nairobi to volunteer at the same orphanage and would like to make an even bigger difference to the lives of the children at St Dorcas.
I am fundraising to continue to sponsor a qualified teacher for the education centre, as well as pay for a student teacher. Currently, they can't afford qualified teachers so the standard of teaching isn't sufficient and several classes don't even have a teacher, leaving the children to teach themselves with textbooks for most of the day.
Just £14 will cover a week's salary for 1 qualified teacher and £56 will pay for a month's salary.
Additional donations beyond this will go towards helping St Dorcas Orphanage & Education Centre to buy their own land. The Orphanage's lease expires at the end of 2018, by which point the landlord wants the property back, so the pressure is on to find a new home and school for up to 70 orphans and approx. 90 more day school children.
This is a cause now really close to my heart and any donation, big or small, really will make a difference to these incredible children's lives.
THANK YOU!
