Story

I have been given a really exciting opportunity through my church and the organisation 'International Needs' (ineeds.org.uk) to go to Uganda in 2020! During my time living in Kenya with my family I had the opportunity to see first hard many of the challenges faced by those struggling with poverty. I have been inspired by the vision of International needs to help children like myself and their families. I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to return to Africa and to be able to help in this important work practically such as working in the local schools and churches, building drying racks and tippy taps but also having the opportunity to learn about the local culture and share my faith.
For a number of years my church has partnered with the Christian organisation ‘International Needs’ . Their vision is for all families to have access to basic resources freeing them from hunger, fear and poverty, so that each family member can live a life that allows them to develop their full potential. Their mission is to bring sustainable change. St. John’s, Burscough has sent a number of teams over the last few years with International needs to support them in their mission. I will be the youngest member of the 2020 team at just 14!
I have been asked to raise my own funds to pay for my flight, accomodation, food and immunisations. Since last year I have been working towards my personal goal of £750 as well as fundraising with the whole team for joint funds for the projects we will be involved in. Due to my age it has been a little tricky but through cakes sales, car washing, gardening, cleaning and, helping in my pop’s shop I have so far raised £500. I have a few other local events planned in the next few months but would like to ask if you also would be willing to support me in reaching my personal target.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I would hugely appreciate any support you able to give me as I continue to fund-raise alongside school work and as I prepare for this incredible adventure, my first without my mum & dad!

5 years agoHi Everyone, Thank you so much for your support! I have spent the Easter holidays helping in my popsy's shop in Carlisle and this week I start a paper round in Burscough! I have a few other events planned with the whole team but I also have a pamper evening fundraiser for my friends and their mums planned for the end of May. Many thanks again and I look forward to updating you soon!
