Story

Hi My name is Dylan and i am 8 years old. Normally i raise money at christmas for the homless making goodie bags and me and my family go around on christmas eve meeting lots of lovely people who live on the streets.

My name is Dylan I’m 8 years old from North Wales.

I raise money at Christmas for the homeless to make special goodie bags with essential things for them during the winter. On Christmas Eve I normally take them around my local homeless areas to help this year I am doing it again with a twist.

This year I asked my mum if I could do the same again but i want to help a lady called Katie Mclver. This year I have paid for the homeless goodie bags from my pocket money and a little help from my mum. So every penny I raise will be going directly to Katie and her family to help pay for the medication Katie needs to feel better so she can spend time with her little girl.

I will be doing THE BIG SLEEP OUT this year in December to raise money. I have to sleep out on cardboard and my sleeping bags with all the homeless in my area all night.

I will give my goodie bags out to the homeless when I do this instead of Christmas Eve. Its important to help as many people can i can.

Me, my mum and Dad, cousins and Nanna will be sleeping out from 10pm until 6am. Every penny counts and I would love to reach my target to be able to help Katie and her family because everyone deserves a chance.

Thank you for reading what I am trying to do no matter how small the donation it still helps and goes a long way.

Please search FORKATE on Facebook and see how many other amazing people are trying to help.

Lots of love Dylan xx

Here is Katie’s story

Kate was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer in 2016, aged 28 having just married her husband Chris, and with their precious one year old daughter Lucia (now 3).

Kate endured 4 operations, 6 months of intense chemotherapy and radiotherapy and 20 steroids a day. Her life was turned upside down, but being the warrior that she is, she was given the good news that the cancer had gone just 12 months later in 2017. (You can read more of Kate’s initial diagnosis here).

Fast forward to 2018, exactly 2 years since her diagnosis, and after spending those 2 years trying to regain her health and obtain a normal family life, we’ve been given the devastating news that the cancer has returned in an incurable form.

Kate is beginning urgent NHS treatment to manage the tumours, now in areas of her bones. Whilst we will do everything that we can, there are a number of additional options available to Kate, at home as well as the potential of new, advanced treatments not available on the NHS.

All of this will assist with bone healing and pain management, as well as supporting the success of Kate’s medical treatment.

These additional, but extremely crucial treatments are costly and this is where we ask for your help, by way of donation, however great or small to help us get Kate the extra time she deserves to spend with the people she loves.
