Story

Every child is special and deserves the best!

Alicja (called by family ALA) was born as a premature baby on 9/06/2017 in a hospital in Bytom (POLAND) with spina bifida and a meningeal spinal hernia - a very serious defect of the central nervous system.

Since the beginning of her life she was facing lots of challenges and difficulties. Her first operation was carried out when Ala was in her mother's womb.

Ala has paraplegia, hydrocephalus and neurogenic bladder - it must be catheterized every 3 hours. She is a little hero – very happy all of the time, learning new things every day. However, Ala needs further treatment and a long and costly rehabilitation that we hope will allow her to stand on her own feet and live a normal happy life.

Stem cells treatment is a chance for Ala to treat the root cause of the condition by promoting the healing of the original spinal cord/brain injury. We believe that comprehensive treatment approach for spina bifida gives our little princess the best chances of improvements, allowing for a better quality of life.

Fetal surgery provided hope that most children with spina bifida would be able to live without shunts. Now, we need to complete that process and find out if they can also live without wheelchairs.

- Diana Farmer, the fetal surgeon who helped pioneer in utero treatment for spina bifida.

The total cost of the treatment is over £6,000 for the family, this is a huge amount of money to find. I believe we can help her to be able to run after her brother and play as every child should.

Please, help Ala and donate for her case.
