Story

Hi,
My friend Amanda runs a rescue shelter for dogs in Greece. She lives in a small village called Kozani. shes worked really hard over the past 3 years building a shelter for abused dogs and puppies.
Many of the dogs/puppies are found on the roadside dumped and abandoned, some are chained up, others are found tied up in bin bags and left to die. Majority of dogs on the streets are in danger of eating the poison that is often left for them by locals.
Amanda has put so much effort into building the shelter making sure the dogs are safe and protected. However it is a shelter that has no roof. Amanda has tried to cover some of the shelter in tarpaulin, but the winter months are awful not kind at all in Kozani. These just get ripped. They've endured harsh winters. Constant flooding and pipes have become frozen as temperatures drop to -20. It would be amazing to raise this money and help to contribute towards building a roof for the shelter.
I went to help out last year and I was shocked at how much hard work it is. I witnessed first hand the amount of dogs still being dumped, even some that had been killed out there. Which was heartbreaking.
Amanda faces many worries as she has Vet and food bills coming in all the time .she has to make sure the dogs are taken to the vets when needed to be wormed, given flea treatment and vaccinated. If dogs are injured and need urgent care. They are spayed and neutered when the time comes also..
Amanda works tirelessly to re home the dogs, she has successfully found homes for some. Which is great news.
Sadly it does all come with a price that's why I ask again if you guys can help me?
Compassion 4 Greeks Paws is not a registered charity therefore relies solely on donations that are made through pay pal on The compassion for Greek Paws Face book page which she set up 3 years ago. I really want to help again.
That's why I am cycling from Daventry to Paris in July again in aid of Compassion for Greek paws.
The ride takes place over 3 days with the Daventry Cycling Club. The first day will be 116 miles, the second is 60 miles and the third day is 112 miles.
I have started my training again. I still work full time. It has been difficult sometimes getting back into the training. You forget how much training is involved, but the end result is rewarding.
I train 3 times in the week after work going to spinning classes and cycling on a turbo trainer. At weekends I go out on my bike and am currently managing 40 mile rides. I have completed a couple of 70 mile bike rides over the Easter period which were tough. My knees are feeling it at the moment.
I’m trying my hardest to raise £1000 towards the care of these lovely dogs. Please sponsor me if you can as every penny will help.
Thank you x

I'm 51 years young and got into cycling 3 years ago. My decision for this was down to my husband after I had wanted to get fit after a foot op! I decided to challenge myself and take part in Daventry 2 Paris in 2017 to try to raise some money to help Amanda with the shelter.
