My name is Alisha Sarah Hyde, I am 15 years old and I go to St Christopher's C of E High School in Accrington.

I am trying to fund raise in my local area to be able to go to Ecuador in South America in August 2018. This trip would be a once in a lifetime opportunity as i would be working alongside different communities constructing vital facilities such as community centres and protecting the environment by taking part in wildlife and marine conservations including planting trees for bears and getting involved with ways to minimise the huge wildlife poaching and deforestation problems. I would be improving healthcare and sanitation of a whole community through installing and improving local amenities and new water facilities to provide fresh drinking water to the local communities which will massively improve the food and water supply. 25% of children in Ecuador have no education and are malnourished so we would be helping generations of children and babies to get an education by constructing new classrooms or kindergartens.

Some of the benefits of going on this trip for me personally are challenging myself to undertake life-enhancing projects, whilst growing in self confidence and independence. i would also be improving my team building and communication skills. As well as these things, i would have engaging stories to add to my personal statement and CV which will help capture my audience and help me stand out from the competition when applying for universities and jobs. I would also achieve the level 3 personal effectiveness award which is equivalent to a B grade at AS level. i hope to be able to help change the lives of over 35,000 people for the better; as we look ahead into next year our focus is to keep our charitable and social goals at the heart of everything we do.
