I've raised £10000 to contribute towards Alison Cockroft's Memorial Fund.

It is with deep sadness to say that our beautiful Mum, Alison, passed away from cancer on the 22nd December 2019. She was just 54 years old.
Since being diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in January 2017, Alison has put up a long, brave fight against this cruel illness. Over the past 3 years, she has had 6 different types of chemotherapy, various hormone treatments and took part in a clinical trial all whilst having multiple surgeries on her kidneys to keep them functioning as best as they could. Her oncologist was amazed how much Mum and her body put up with, but our Mum was willing to try anything as she did not want to leave her family, friends and her baby granddaughter behind.
Unfortunately, Mum’s condition deteriorated quickly over the past couple of weeks and just over a week before she passed, she was taken to Willen Hospice. It is an amazing place, so warm and homely with the support of the friendly doctors and nurses who did everything they could to make sure Mum and her visitors were as comfortable as possible. When Mum passed away, she was with her loving family and pain-free. We are still all so shocked with her passing, despite always knowing the inevitable outcome of her illness; nothing can prepare you.
We originally started this page to raise money for medical treatment which was to help prolong her life. Unfortunately the inevitable has happened, we can no longer raise money to help Mum make memories with us. Instead, we can raise money in her memory for the charities she picked to support before she passed.
We have always been amazed by the love, support and the donations people have given us through these few tough years. Mum unfortunately was never able to use the money we raised for the SIRT treatment; after having the SIRT treatment patients typically experience a 12 week period of illness. Mum and the Doctors decided that perhaps other treatments would give her more time without such a negative impact on her quality of life. A similar decision was made on the Palbociclib drug, when weighing up the pro’s and con’s it was deemed that the drug would end up causing more damage than good, causing further damage to the already weakened kidneys.
As a family we have decided to put the remaining money which we didn't use for treatment towards Mum’s memorial fund and we will also be donating towards the following charities:-
Cancer Research UK
Breast Cancer Now
Willen Hospice
Each of these charities had helped Mum throughout the duration of her illness and continue to help those who need it most. We’re sure you’ll agree these charities are integral to both combatting cancer and helping those living with long term illness. Finally, we cannot thank Willen Hospice enough for their support during this difficult time.
