Story
My name is Alison, I am 51 years of age. In March of this year I was diagnosied with Breast Cancer, on May 17th I had a Mastectomy followed by chemotherepy then Radiotherapy. As you can imagine this was a really tough time for myself, husband and my beautiful twin daughters. All along this awful journey I was reassured by my consultant and oncolgist team that breast reconstruction was available on the NHS. My consultant arranged a appoinment with the plastic surgeon to discuss and to get myself onto the waiting list for the surgery. To my devastation I was told that funding is no longer available for the forseable future and they would not even consider putting me on to the list. The only option was to go privately and to then be told this would cost £20,000. I felt so upset and now angry that the NHS can not perform this surgery for Breast Cancer patients. I will continue to fight this through the press and my local MP but for now thank you for your kindness.
