Story
The Rode 1st Major Scouts are a small but very enthusiastic group and an important part of our village community. Amazingly, 6 of it's members (aged 13 and 14) have been selected to represent Somerset (out of a total of 18) at the Eurojam in Poland. Harry, Poppy, Anna-Rose, Grace, Sam and Toby (not pictured here) are all committed to raising the money they need to go.
The 2020 European Jamboree was being held in Gdansk, Poland, but since the Covid 19 pandemic it has been postponed until August 2021.
It's estimated that 12,000 - 15,000 Scouts from all over Europe will be getting together to share their common goals and discover their different cultures.
This is a life changing trip for our youngsters. Under the educational motto ACT, the European Jamboree will encourage Scouts to: discover their potential to change the World; raise Scouts’ awareness of the challenges that face Europe and the World; and develop their responsibilities towards their own local communities. It is also a goal of the Jamboree to encourage young leaders of our communities to achieve the aims of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Each Scout needs to raise £1500 to go on the trip. Any donation however small will be gratefully received and will help them to achieve their goal.
