I've raised £500 to provide a friend and his family with some support during what will be a heart-breaking time and for his family's future

In 2019, I did a triathlon. Not an Olympic distance triathlon but a triathlon all the same. And then stupidly, I signed up for it again in 2020 but damn COVID. So the race is now this Sunday. And every part of me is thinking "Why am I doing this again????"
Anyway, I now have a reason. A dear friend and colleague, Nigel, has been battling a brain tumour since 2013; 4 operations, consequential infections, further tumours and regrowth and chemotherapy. Just under a month ago, he and his lovely family received the life-changing news that there was nothing more that could be done. He has not enough time left with us all, and more importantly, not enough time with his courageous wife Katie, brave boys and wider family.
So this Sunday, I am swimming and cycling and running for Nigel. To make funds available for them now to make some lifelong memories and maybe even enough to support Katie and their children in the future.
Any donation, small or large, will hopefully spur me on to keep moving and more than that - it will make a real difference to real people.
