Story

I have been working for Alison for 19 years as her primary carer. She has cerebral palsy which limits the things that she can do which is gradually getting worse but that’s not what this is about.
Alison is coming up to her 50th birthday in May. Firstly, I don’t think she thought she would ever see 50 and now that it’s almost here she is absolutely dreading it! I think, like most of us, it is making her think about how long she has left, as she has quite a few health conditions linked to her cerebral palsy, for example she has scoliosis and because of the curvature getting worse over the years, her organs are all scrunched up inside her who knows where! I’m not going to lie, I don’t know how she deals with everything that gets thrown at her and at times things can get rough and very difficult but she gets through it with the help of her husband Matt.
So, this is about trying to raise money so that we can give Alison something special for her birthday. She is a massive musical theatre fan and we do manage to get to the occasional show in Southampton.
However, money is always an issue. One of her favourite movies lately is Mamma Mia 1 and 2. So... in August begins Mamma Mia The party at the 02 in London, which is basically a 4-5 hour extravaganza including a meal and the singers dancing and singing around you. Alison really wants to do it but it is WAY out of her price range. Tickets are starting at £151 per person and she needs 2 carers with her and it would be amazing if we could get enough money for one of her friends to come as well.
Depending on how well we do, next would be a hotel because doing the trip in 1 day would be very hard for Alison, but if we had to, we would. Anything is possible! Of course, any money left over can be given to a charity of Alison’s choice. Please, please help us to reach the goal, which I have set high enough to cover tickets petrol and a hotel. Of course, anything anybody could give, is brilliant and Alison would be over the moon to get such a surprise
I know there are so many brilliant charities and causes to raise money for out there but please take a minute to consider this. Life if beautiful and we should endeavour to get as much enjoyment out of it as we can.
Please also leave a message so that I can show them to Alison on her birthday! Thank you from all of Alison's family and myself for every £1 donated!
