Story

We are raising money to bring home a badly injured cat we found while on holiday in Thailand. Any money raised will be used to bring the cat, we called Mackrel home and any remaining money would be donated to Lanta Animal Welfare, charity helping animals in Thailand.
A Few days ago we were laying on a beach in Koh Lanta, one of the most beautiful islands in Thailand. We were planning to have our last night on the island. On the way home we decided to stop at our ”fish lady”. Big fat juicy mackerel was on the bbq! Little did we know our plans were about to change. We got home and went to the decking and noticed a small cat scurrying away. She was very thin and badly injured and looked like she had been in the wars. We gave her bits of our fish, which she wolfed down. We offered her water and we never seen an animal drink so much. We decided to take her to the animal shelter we visited earlier. We agreed to name her Mackrel, like the fish we had eaten earlier Mackrel just purred and seemed to agree. The next morning while having breakfast outside Mackrel just stayed in the house looking at us. She did not want to come out. We made a makeshift cat box and drove to the animal welfare centre. While at the centre we discussed options, but the only options were – adoption or realise her back to the streets. We could not leave her, so we chose to adopt her. Although her injuries were shocking, we did not even think about other cat diseases she might be carrying. Like FIV (cat aids), worms etc. They said they will need to test her. Over the next hour or so we were on tender hooks. Eventually the vet came back with the results we were hoping for–she was all clear and the paperwork could begin. They brought Mackrel out for us to say our last cuddles and good buys. It will take about 4 months until Mackrel will be home with us. She has a lot of recovering to do before Mackrel’s journey Home.
PS, The name Mackrel is Estonian/English spelling mix.
Any help is appreciated.

Thank You
