Story
After a gruelling weekend of hikes, tests and interviews Tom is incredibly proud to be have been 1 of only 10 scouts selected from Milton Keynes to be a part of the UK contingent for the 24th World Scout Jamboree held at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve, West Virginia, USA July 2019.
Tom will be working hard with the rest of the Contingent to raise over £3640.00 each over the next 18 months. The fee will contribute to Tom’s attendance at the event, but also contributes to Scouts from other less fortunate countries allowing them to attend, supporting the aim of the Jamboree ‘Unlock a New World’. The World Scout Jamboree is a unique, international adventure shaped by young people. By attending as part of the UK contingent, Tom will be able to have a positive impact not only on Scouting but also his local community. "With 50,000 Scouts from 160 countries living side-by-side, The World Scout Jamboree is Life-Changing. Those who desire to live life to it’s fullest should not miss this mind-blowing event.”
Tom’s enjoyed being a member of Milton Keynes scouts since he was 5 years old learning life skills, making new friends and helping his local community. He’ll be working hard to raise his target and has planned further fundraising activities - bag packing, delivering leaflets, car wash, bake sales, and is looking for challenges to complete in 2018.
I’m incredibly proud of all the hard work Tom has done so far, to earn his place and will support him all I can in this amazing adventure. If you would like to learn more about the event, please see the following link to the World Scout Jamboree page https://2019wsj.org & https://mkscouts.org/international
Whether it's £1 or £20 you can spare to help Tom in his adventure to the 24th World Scout Jamboree is very much appreciated.
Thank you very much :D

6 years agoHi This weekend Tom will be undertaking a sponsored 25 Mile Challenge hike with his fellow scouts. Rain has been predicted so he'll be a little soggy by the end. If you'd like to see the hike Tom will be taking please click on the link below. https://www.theparkstrust.com/activities/walking/25-mile-challenge/ All sponsorship is welcome and we'll be posting updates on how soggy Tom gets throughout the day!

6 years agoWell he's a few months in and working hard, and works most weekends. So far he's done fete's, leaflet deliveries, ebay sales, sausage selling. Tom's attended 2 camps so far, where all the Bucks group met to get to know each other before the big trip. Tom's making great friends and learning new skills. The next skill is a leather making lesson with some fellow scouts. This weekend Tom will be supporting the group at the Xscape, working on a family fun day, running a stall at a fete, and finally helping with the the local marathon.
