Story
ALK+ International is a Charity Trust, created by Cat, Jamie and Jo with the sole aim of raising money to extend the lives for all ALK+ cancer patients through vital medical research.
We are launching on World Cancer Day, 4th February 2022, where 100% of all funds raised in this, our first campaign, will be used to fund much needed vital medical research for patients with any form of ALK Positive Cancer.
Because together we can.
We are working with other patient groups from over 11 different Europen countries, in total representing over 1000 ALK+ patients. Together we can make a difference to patients lives by pushing life saving research forward.
Objectives of ALK+ International:
To advance the health and save the lives of all cancer patients, with the ALK-positive genetic mutation through the raising of funds in the UK, for the purposes of vital medical research.
Why is research needed?
It is estimated that there are approximately 4000 plus ALK+ Lung Cancer patients alone in the UK.
We also know that ALK+ cancer is the most common somatically mutated gene in Neuroblastoma, predominately a childhood cancer.
We know that the ALK+ Genetic Mutation can affect anyone of any age or gender, and thanks to research we now know that an ALK+ Cancer can appear in any area of the body. Knowing this we can expect that there are many more ALK+ Cancer patients in the UK and the world. ALK+ is currently an incurable disease and vital research will help us find new treatments to extend the lives of patients living with cancer.
