    Story

In Bangladesh 95% of the women do not use sanitary napkin because of its unavailability and unaffordability. Not only in rural or coastal areas but also in urban areas girls/women use old rags, husk sands and ashes during menstruation which causes severe reproductive health problems. Awareness about feminine hygiene is very low.

During a research of “All for One”, we found that the rate of absentees in school (Age group: 12 - 17)) is 55% in urban and 85% in rural areas. 95% school going girls said it is uncomfortable for them to go to school or to travel during period time due to abdominal pain and fear of leakage of the blood from rags. They cannot share it with anyone because of orthodox social perception.

Lack of knowledge, taboos, myths are also a big barrier to menstrual hygiene as in this country a lot of people think period blood is impure.

To eradicate this menstrual hygiene problem All For One is working in the deprived schools to provide them a hygienic life to minimize their absent in school as well as creating them a community leaders. It is not possible to support everyone but these young leaders can aware their communities. You can sponsor a school child for £24 annually and help her to remain at School.
