Story

To support the foundation currently being set up in Luke's name, I set myself a personal Dechox (no chocolate) challenge for the month of February 2019. Two day's in I've decided to up the ante and to extend the challenge (for six months) until end July 2019. This is nothing in comparison to the challenge Luke faced during his 20 month battle with High Risk Neuroblastoma, a challenge never the less for me, driven by my determination to help others and sustain Luke's Legacy. On a more personal note the benefits of succeeding the challenge will be ten fold to my own health. I was diagnosed with Diabetes 2 six years ago and it is a constant struggle to maintain good blood sugar levels even with medication and insulin, especially with my desire for chocolate treats. My goal by the end of the challenge is to lose a minimum of two stones in weight and put my diabetes into remission. I've tried many times in different ways to improve my health and failed, but for Luke I will push myself to succeed when it gets difficult, no matter how tough it gets. Please continue to support and encourage me to keep focused in Luke's memory, it's the very least I can do.

Luke's Legacy:

As a family we’ve taken a lot of time to think about what to do with the money that has been raised for Luke. Considerations have been made as to what Luke would want, and what would provide the most fitting legacy for him. After much discussion we have decided to set up a foundation in Luke’s name.

There is already a large number of fantastic charities out there doing a wonderful job providing financial support, gifts or experiences, however we want to go down a slightly different route.

Luke was hugely inquisitive, and wanted to know the details of his treatment, what it would involve and what the effects would be. With this in mind, we want the foundation to provide information and support to families dealing with High Risk Neuroblastoma. We have clearly learnt a lot through our journey and hope to be able to make other families’ experiences a little easier.

As a family we also felt there have been gaps in the support provided to us, and again we would like to try to improve this for other families.
