The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Hi everyone this is the 1st time I have done anything like this, but myself and Janice are taking part in the Great North Run on the 8th September 2019. She will push me in a wheelchair which is extremely tough for herself and for me, as sitting for long periods is very painful. We will be going Fancy Dress too and all to raise money for Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group. I started this group Feb 2014 after my own Cancer Diagnosis, there was no help and support out there. Wherever possible we provide these services free, so fundraising is a vital part of the Charity. We provide Monthly Meetings
Take them on Social Outings
Provide Patient Transport to hospitals
Provide Respite Breaks
Give Financial Advice
Provide Chemo Bags
And much more.
People may think as I've had my treatment I am ok now, sadly this is very untrue. Every day is a battle with various Health Problems mostly caused by the Chemo I had, pain 24 hours is very over powering and although I never complain, it's so hard to get up on a morning. I don't mind sharing with you just some of the many problems, my bladder doesn't work and I have to rely on catheters and I'm constantly blown up from all the excess fluid, I have M.E which is why I'm so tired all the time along with a poor memory, I also have Fibromyalgia and again pain is another part of this, I also have many problems with my back including a missed fracture. It's so hard day to day and compared to some of the wonderful people I have met over the years I am the lucky one, time is not on their side yet they fight courageously and never complain.
18 months ago I lost my beautiful Mam who was my Best Friend, every day is a struggle just to be here without her is tough, we did everything together, I was there when she took her last breath but 1 thing she would want me to do is to carry on helping Cancer Patients and their Families.
