Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Someone very annoying convinced me to take part in the Holy Grit in Cornwall on 7th October. 12 km of running in the dunes and gruesome obstacles.
I am not a runner. I hate endurance. I don't have much upper body strength. Or lower body strength for that matter. I have zero willpower when it comes to training unless it's water related. But somehow here I am.
So why putting myself through my own personal hell then. Well beyond what I hope will be an incredible sense of personal achievement afterwards, I would like to raise funds for "Brittle Bone" Disease Research.
My friend, colleague and fellow surfer and diver Matt Clements had his beautiful daughter just diagnosed with it, and quite frankly it sucks. It means that Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) is a genetic condition characterised by bones that break easily, often from little or no apparent cause. Just a hug could break his daughter in tiny little pieces. After only few weeks of life she has already endured many broken bones.
So please donate so that we can find new and earlier ways to diagnose this disease, and create a better future for those living with it.
And come laugh at me in Newquay on 7th October 2017 while I embarrassed myself running in mud and probably injuring myself in the meantime.
I'll be bothering you with call to give money for all of the next 4 months so you might as well do it now.

Something extra for your challenge Ally. It was also a pleasure to meet Matt Clements at Stoney Cove recently.
