Story
Alom was our youngest brother and the baby of our family. He was committed to his family and as such woke up on Sunday morning, messaging us on the family Whatsapp group for all of us brothers and sisters to come and do Iftar at the main family home.
In the afternoon, he took one of our niece to the shop to buy sweets for her, returning home shortly after. Unfortunately, the angel of death was calling him in this blessed month of Ramadan, and our baby brother went back out to the shops that he had been to thousands of times before, to buy food items for the evening Iftar gathering. This was his last time he left his family home where he lived for 23 years. This was the last time mum, who is unwell, saw him. This was the last time his nieces and nephews saw him, this was the last time all of us saw him alive.
His final trip to the shop, resulted in him being brutally attacked with assault knives and hammers in broad day light, on a busy East London road in front of countless people. This horrendous attack ended his life shortly after being taken to hospital.
He loved children, and gave all his love to his nephews and nieces, who are waiting for him to wake up from sleep. How do you tell 4 year olds and 5 year olds that your uncle will be sleeping forever, as they are still trying to understand why their grandad has not woken from his sleep just over 20 months ago?
Alom, was known around this community for his kindness and humanity. He is the best of us. He would help the elderly carry their shopping home, or just ask his neighbours how their day was. This is the brother we want everyone to remember. We believe in the almighty, and death is written for you. His time had come as Allah(swt) says in the quran that “every soul shall taste death”. Although my brother cannot earn anymore rewards himself, we wanted to do something in his name as Sadaqah Jaariyah that was fitting to his character and as such we wanted to give the gift of life by building water wells and water pumps around the world. Our minimum goal is 23 water wells/water pumps for every year he was in this world
Our aim is to raise as much money as possible to give access to sustainable and clean water to as many communities around the globe who currently are suffering as they do not have access or have to walk miles on end to find water. Let’s come together, on the back of this tragic event to provide something that will benefit people for generations to come and help my brother in the akhirah (hereafter).
We aim to share images of all the water pumps and wells we install so everyone who contributed could see how your money has been used for the benefit of others.
Please do not forget that you will also share in this reward for making it possible through your generous donations and the countless duas you will receive from the people who will use them. Evening standard report
