I was supposed to run the Eryri Marathon this year on 29/10/16. Unfortunately my youngest son Gruff (2) was taken ill with a rare disease called HSP. This condition affects the small blood vessels, causes severe bruising and painful, swollen joints and can lead to kidney damage. An hour before the start of the race, I was called to go to Ysbyty Gwynedd as Gruff's condition had worsened.
By now, Gruff is getting better day by day and will attend Ysbyty Gwynedd's Dewi Ward on a regular basis to monitor his condition. Due to the circumstances, I have decided to run the Marathon route myself on 5/11/16 (I already have the marathon t-shirt, and a little ritual which I have is to never wear race shirts until I complete the race!!!) to raise money for Dewi Ward. Gruff received the best possible care by fantastic medics and nurses. As a family we are extremely thankful to them. I would be very grateful of any donations towards Dewi Ward. Thank you. Alwyn

Roeddwn i fod i redeg Marathon Eryri eleni ar 29/10/16. Yn anffodus fe aeth fy mab ieuengaf Gruff (2) yn sal gyda chlefyd anghyffredin o'r enw HSP. Mae'r cyflwr yn effeithio ar wythiennau bach a'r joints ac yn achosi poen mawr. Cefais alwad i Ysbyty Gwynedd awr cyn i'r ras ddechrau gan fod Gruff wedi gwaethygu. Mae Gruff bellach yn gwella. Rwyf wedi penderfyny rhedeg llwybr y ras fy hun ar 5/11/16 er mwyn casglu arian tuag at Ward Dewi. Fe gafodd Gruff y gofal gorau posib gan feddygon a nyrsys ar y ward.
