Story

The burn side improvement project in Alyth is an ambitious and exciting proposal to improve the appearance, access and biodiversity of the burn side for the benefit of the local community and visitors.

The existing planting along the burn side evolved over recent years by the introduction of bamboo, designed to be low maintenance. This bamboo has subsequently been neglected, is now overgrown and badly in need of attention.

The plans are to remove the bamboo and lay new sett paving to form a walkway. Raised planters will provide year-round colour and benches positioned where people can relax and enjoy the background of the waterside and the several historic buildings that grace the town.

It is planned that artwork, produced by local craftspeople and reflecting the history of the town, will be incorporated into the design.

Alyth in Bloom see a huge potential to improve the look and biodiversity of the area and make the side of the burn a walkway, providing a lasting legacy to be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.
