This summer holidays myself and my children are trying to raise as much money as possible to help the homeless shelter. My children will be taking part in the 2.5k great mini and junior Birmingham Run on Saturday 14th October 2017. We will be using the money raised to buy donations for the homeless shelter in Wolverhampton, things we will like to donate are, coffee, hot chocolate, squash, soup, shampoos and toothpaste and toothbrushes. Every little donation will help, so please donate as much as you can.

There are a lot of people who would debate whether or not we should help the homeless but no homeless person deserves to be on the street. There is a certain stigma around the homeless with a common assumption that the majority are drug addicts or alcoholics and that their problems are therefore self inflicted. Although theres a certain measure of truth in that thinking, there are also a number of homeless people which are victims of domestic or severe trauma abuse. To help the homeless is to help some of the most vulnerable and unfortunate people in our community.

We feel this is the right way to donate, because any homeless person can walk into the shelter and use the donations we have given. Our donations may not change someone's life.. but at least it will make this upcoming winter a easier one for some people.

My children are very young, ages are (12, 8, 5 and 1) I think it's essential they realise how fortunate they are to have any food of their choice on the table. They will be coming along to shop for the homeless shelter using the donations we have raised.
