Story
So here it is.....
Our heartbreaking story of the last 5.5 weeks.
On Thursday 11th October 2018 i was taken into hospital to be induced becuase our child was too poorly to be in this world. He came into this world fighting at 18.47 weighing 240g and 19cm long we named him:
Alfie James Cambridge.
He lived in this world for 2hrs and 13 mins... i guess he just wanted to meet his mummy and daddy before he gained his angel wings to be with his nanny. He even wrapped his little fingers round his mummys finger and died in the arms of his daddy.
This has been the biggest decision of our lifes as husband and wife and its not been easy. Our baby was born with the most severe case of spina bifida with problems with his brain. 3/4 of his tiny little back was open so that all his nerve endings were sitting on the outside of his body. He would of had no quality of life and we were told due to how extensive his condition was that even if we chose to go to full term he would of only probably lived for a few hours.
We cannot thank kettering general hospital enough for the campassion and care we recieved.
We were given the snowdrop room on the labour ward in which you have to walk through to get to the room. Allthough the room was lovely with its own bathroom and garden it isnt sound proof.
We as parents going through the most horrendous time had to listen to mothers given birth, babies crying, dads ringing home to tell family about there happy news which is all amazing but not for us as parents who were grieving with our little boy lying lifeless beside us.
So we want to raise money for this room to be sound proofed and to be given different access so that you do not have to walk through the labour ward to access or to leave with your baby in your arms who has died.
