My daughters much loved 6 year old miniature dachshund 'Max' has somehow managed to slip a disc in his spine which has caused paralysis in his hind legs when playing in the garden. we just don't understand how he has managed to cause this serious injury but somehow he has managed it.( I just want to apologise for there not being a photograph )I was at the vets all yesterday and will be again later today. Anyone who keeps pets knows how exorbitant vets fees can be which is why I thought it would be a good idea to take out cover to help take away some of the worry at what is a very difficult and stressful time or so we thought. Our vet referred us to a clinic some distance away where we spent most of the day to then find out at the last minute that whilst he was insured his insurers wont help because they believe it was pre existing, it wasn't and my vet and I don't have proof to say otherwise and with insurers being insurers will do their upmost to avoid paying. We have gone through a range of emotions and feelings of despair. I'm so upset with the one I'm currently with feeling I was at least taking away the worry of cost allowing us to concentrate on what lay ahead. He so urgently needs this operation to have any chance of saving his life and with time being very important. He is an extremely loving dog who loves nothing better than having a cuddle and snuggling up under my daughters duvet for the night. His other partner in crime being our rescue dog, who waits by the dog crate wondering why his friend cant come out. At the moment he is having to be confined with painkillers we so desperately want to give him a chance and urgently need help. We are all devastated and to find out at this distressing time I've being paying out each month for a high cover which isn't there when so desperately needed. It does make one think what was the point, I've tried talking to them to no avail. So I find myself urgently trying to raise the additional money.
