I've raised £500 to Marie Curie and Macmillan Suite, Raigmore

We are raising money for Marie Curie and the Macmillan Suite, Raigmore, Inverness in memory of Charlie Lucas, loving husband of Amanda, dad to Rachel and Ben, son to Bart and Marion, brother to Fiona, son-in-law to Billy and Anne, brother-in-law, uncle and dear friend to many.
Charlie's family will forever be grateful to the Marie Curie nurses for their help and support overnight, allowing Charlie to remain at home during the most difficult of times. They will also always remember the care and support provided by Dr Mmeka and all the staff at the Macmillan Suite, including his sister-in-law Mel, during Charlie's short illness.
On 11th May 2020 Charlie's world was turned upside down when he was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer which had very aggressively spread to his liver, as this was so advanced treatment options were very limited. Understandably this was a shocking diagnosis for Charlie, Amanda, Rachel, Ben and all of Charlie's family and friends as Charlie only had symptoms for a couple of weeks before and had been working as a Field Manager for SSE until then, climbing electricity poles only the week before. Despite such a shocking diagnosis and prognosis Charlie was determined to have treatment and after a meeting with Dr Mmeka, Consultant Oncologist at the Macmillan Suite Charlie was told he could start Chemotherapy the following week on 20th May 2020 which was Charlie and Amanda's 20th Wedding Anniversary.
Unfortunately things progressed very quickly for Charlie and he was sadly given the news on 3rd June that his body was not fit for anymore treatment. Charlie continued to fight and after a very brief visit to the Highland Hospice Charlie was cared for at home by his family, supported by his mother-in-law Anne and with nursing care provided by Marie Curie, East Community Nursing Team and his sister-in-law Mel. Sadly Charlie passed away peacefully at home on Friday 19th June 2020, only 1 month and 10 days after his cancer diagnosis.
Everyone who knew Charlie described him as fun, great craic, a true gentleman and just a great guy. Charlie will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. Charlie's family would like to thank everyone for helping to raise funds for Marie Curie and the Macmillan Suite.
