Story

Hi all, so i‘m writing to tell you the reason for my gofundme appeal..

I am 31 and a working mother of two and I work crazy hours per week because I love my job and what I do and I need to pay towards childcare, leaving very little for me to put towards my nursing qualifications to become a Mental Health Qualified Nurse.

Mental health has taken a serious drop with the amount of Qualified Nurses looking after the patients and due to the bursary being removed less and less people are applying due to the fees of the courses.

I currently work as a Health Care Assistant in mental health and for the past nine months or so its really opened my eyes to how people can struggle daily when suffering from a mental health disorder such as psychosis, bipolar, depression, unstable emotional personality disorder and many more...but it is not just adults, it is children / adolescents, the elderly and those with learning disabilities. There are so many people still out in the community not receiving the care they need due to lack of Qualified staff/ health care assistants/ hospital beds.

Since starting my job I have felt nothing but passion about what I do for the patients and how I can help them with their treatment, recovery, and support, by showing care and compassion. I work my very hardest with every thing I do. I work with great teams at my current place of work who are extremly supportive and always keen to show me and guide me so I can learn more.

I feel very positive that I can achieve my goal to become a Mental Health Nurse with some amazing feedback that I have received from colleagues saying that I would make an amazing nurse! Just makes me want to do it even more.

I feel very strong about helping people at their lowest, sadest and scariest times to get them onto the road to recovery and live a happier life and not be in and out of hospitals or in trouble with police because they didnt / don’t have the capacity to know what they were doing was wrong! A lot of the time people mistake mental health disorders to just being down to bad behaviour / unsociable / rude / angry/ aggressive because they are misunderstood and need help and support.

I am asking that if anyone would like to help me help others in need I would be extremely grateful and I would make the promise that I will work hard and do my best to help others.

Thank you
