Story

My name is Amanda Wassell and I am the Headteacher at St Bede’s school where Teddy attended from nursery. Each day I would visit every classroom and I would watch Ted in action. He loved to play in the construction area, building things as he had a lovely imagination. He enjoyed the sand too. But especially being outside, climbing and balancing or making cars with the large construction things such as crates, planks and tyres.Teddy was only 6 years old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, he died 6 months later after bravely battling cancer. Teddy’s family formed Team Ted Foundation and invited me to be a trustee.

I am delighted to have secured a charity place to run the 2025 TCS London Marathon for Children with Cancer. I will be running this in memory of Teddy Kelly to fundraise for the newly established Team Ted Foundation (TTF) which aims to provide relief to children suffering from terminal illnesses through its provision of grants for the children to access a memorable and comfortable end of life experience.

TTF is dedicated to creating unforgettable moments for children across England and Wales who are battling cancer.

Our grants help alleviate this burden, allowing children to find joy and create cherished memories even during the toughest times.

Additionally, the Team Ted Foundation provides financial support for essential household items and furniture. This assistance ensures that children can enjoy a comfortable and nurturing environment should they choose to go home during end of life care, just as Ted did.
