Story

In memory if Mrs Iris Benson

Mrs Benson was our head of year and dedicated many years to Haggerston Girls School. She was a a member if the SLT and taught office practise studies. when our facebook group found out that she had passed away it was amazing to hear the wonderful stories about her and the impact she had on so many girls lives.

My own memories are that of support, compassion, care and kindness. My father was diagnosed with M.S when I was just four years old. As you can imagine my teenage years where sometimes a lonely and confusing time and her kindness is something that will always stay with me. A life lesson that i still hold dear to me this day.

There are so many stories of her kindness, support and guidance that lead us to want to mark her life. When we contacted the school they took the view that seeing as no current staff knew of her that it was felt inappropriate to allow us to plant a tree/bush in the grounds in her memory. we contacted the local park - which is just across the road from the school and they have advised we can plant a memory tree at a cost of 360.

Please feel free to share this page. We wl keep you updated as we go along.
