Story
I'm doing a bonkers Zipwire challenge called "Velocity 2" in Snowdonia on Wednesday 10th April to raise money for Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue, a local charity that our gorgeous canine companions came from, pictured above on Christmas Day 2018 at Dunraven Bay in South Wales.
Tiggy is our ditzy elderly Springer Spaniel, whom we have had for about 10 years. She had a large tumour protruding from her vulva when she was found. Tiggy was incredibly poorly with life-threatening anaemia and was painfully thin. A very skilled ophthalmic vet specialist, Tim Knott, was working at Brookfield Vets, Hereford, on the day that she was brought in as a stray. Tim successfully removed her tumour and reconstructed her "lady area" let's say, and here we are 10 years later I am happy to report! Trevor is our cheeky Jack Russel Terrier. He came into the surgery through Hereford and Worcester as a stray. He had Parvovirus, a preventable disease through vaccination that does sadly kill many un-vaccinated dogs, especially if they are very young. Happily for us Trevor was made of stern stuff and survived after lots of intensive nursing at Brookfield Vets, and has made his home with us for over 8 years now. A small dog with oodles of character as every Jack Russel owner will identify with! And our newest canine addition is Tess, a black and white 10 year old Collie cross Jack Russel. We re-homed her 18 months ago and she slotted into our "pack" beautifully (and I include myself and my husband Matthew who is also taking on the zipwire challenge with me, in the "pack"!). There is a battle going on in Tess's head between her Collie brain and the Jack Russel brain....what a mix! She was handed into Hereford and Worcester when her elderly owner sadly passed away and the family couldn't give her the time and attention that they realised that she needed. Tess is an absolute mixed up joy to have in our lives. If you need a cuddle, Tess needs one more and she ensures that she gets one too!!!
We have always had rescue cats and dogs as our furry companions and appreciate the money, time and dedication that Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue, and charities like them, put in to ensuring that these animals can get a second chance in a new loving home. Attaching myself to a wire, lying face down hurtling at speeds of up to 100mph above Penrhyn Quarry in Snowdonia on the fastest zipwire in the world travelling a distance of 1550 metres is not my idea of fun (I HATE HEIGHTS!!!), but the work that Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue do is worth a few minutes of fear. Please sponsor me and help raise money for this very worthy cause. Without them our gorgeous much loved dogs (the three T's as we affectionately refer to them) may not be here and we wouldn't have got to spend Christmas Day on the beach with them these last two years!
Thank you from Amanda, Matthew and the Three T's on behalf of Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue xxx
