WHO WE ARE:

The Aman Project is a refugee-led LGBTQ+ organization founded in 2017.

Since then, the Aman Project has evolved as a grassroots initiative that runs a number of programs advancing the rights of LGBTQ+ refugees in Turkey and the wider MENA region. This fundraiser supports the Aman Project’s Turkey program.

HOW WE SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY:

Each month, we provide support to LGBTQ+ refugees in Turkey through the following programs:

- Emergency Assistance: We provide targeted cash assistance to help our community members in crisis, such as for their medical bills, utilities and rent.

- Food Vouchers: We provide 25+ individuals with food coupons each month.

- Psychosocial Support: We link LGBTQ+ refugees with therapists through our local and international partners. We also connect LGBTQ+ individuals to one another with the help of trained counselors for weekly psycho-social support sessions.

- Resettlement and Legal Support: We help people to pursue safe resettlement options and refer them for legal help with other organizations.

CURRENTLY:

Due to the ever-increasing pressure against LGBTQ+ refugees in Turkey, the needs of some of our most vulnerable community members extend beyond our limited monthly budget. In order to support our community members currently in crisis in Turkey, we have been sharing some of their stories along with links to this fundraiser. If you want to donate to a particular individual who has shared their story as part of the current fundraiser, just mention their name when you donate via this link and we’ll send your donation directly to them. Otherwise, your donation will be added to our emergency fund and distributed to our broader community as needed. 100% of donations given here go directly to community members by bank transfer.

If you do not mention a specific name, your generous donation will be added to our monthly emergency budget and distributed amongst our community members in Turkey.
