I've raised £1000 to raise money for the Maurice Jackson Renal Unit, enabling them to purchase new equipment and support patients.

Hi all, we are doing an inflatable 5KM run on the 23rd September 2017 in aid of the Maurice Jackson Renal Unit in loving memory of our grandad.
Our grandad suffered from kidney failure over 30 years ago and came under the care of an amazing consultant Dr Maurice Jackson. After many years, Dr Jackson was able to find a kidney match where our grandad was lucky to have a kidney transplant enabling him to live a normal life.
Unfortunately 6 years ago his kidney deteriorated and he was then put back on dialysis. This was devastating news for him as he knew how difficult this was going to be.
He became a regular patient at the Maurice Jackson Renal Unit (Pond Lane Renal Unit), visiting three times a week. As kidney patients will tell you, this illness is very emotionally and physically draining. But our grandad fought this illness with the excellent care of the nurses working there. It was a hard 6 years but necessary in enabling us to spend that extra time with him.
Sadly during the last few months his health deteriorated further when he caught a blood infection called septicaemia. Although the doctors and nurses did everything they could to save him, our grandad sadly passed away.
Over the years we have seen how much the renal units at New Cross and Pond Lane have done in helping and supporting not only our grandad, but thousands of other dialysis patients. Sadly our grandad is no longer with us, but we would like to help give something back for all of the hard work the staff have done to support their patients over the years.
By taking part in this inflatable 5km run, would like your support in donating whatever you can to the Maurice Jackson Renal Unit. Every little helps so please just click on the link and donate away.
Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.
