I've raised £250 to help keep the Animal Rescue Shelter to continue protecting the wild animals.

The Amazon Shelter, located near to Puerto Maldonado (Peru), rescues animals which have been mistreated, injured or abandonded.
The latest addition being Antonio, a 6 week old Howler Monkey, whose mother was shot dead for food. Antonio fell from the trees, his tail became infected and he broke his arm.
This is one example of many Howler Monkeys which suffer from the local hunters. The shelter also provides help for many other animals which are as follows: Tucans, Parrots, Macaws, a Sloth, a Peccary, a Deer, tortoises and lots of other types of monkey including Woolly monkeys, a Night monkey and a Dusky monkey among many others. The Shelter is in need of funds in order to set up a Quarantine in order to ensure the animals are free from deadly diseases and are safe to mix with the other animals.
I care about this cause so much as I have volunteered here for a month in March 2018 and have seen how in need the place is. The Shelter is vital to the survival of so many animals which wouldn’t be living today if the Amazon Shelter did not exist. I have been so lucky to be given the oppotunity to work there for a further month in June this year.
Magali Salinas, the owner of the shelter, sold up her property in Lima and moved to Puerto Maldonado in order to start the sanctury. She really cares for the animals as I’ve seen first hand and works very hard to ensure the animals are prepared for their release back into the wild.
I hope to update this page with more news on the animals after my visit!
Any donations would be hugely appreciated.
Thank you so much,
Lucy Tibble
