Story
I am running 5k in Maidenhead ParkRun on 22nd sept with other couch potatoes ( that is what I call us) to raise funds for Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice. 5K may not seem much for many of you but for me who has not run more than 400 mtrs on track ever in life, it is bit of a challenge.
Alexander Devine Children Hospice provide specialist respite, palliative and end of life care to families across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and surrounding areas, with children having a life-limiting or life-threatening condition.
The service operate from it’s own purpose built, “home-from-home” children’s hospice in Maidenhead; the first and only children’s hospice in Berkshire. It was founded by parents of a bright little boy Alexander who was diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of just four. There is nothing in this world that can prepare any parent for such a trauma, and life is never the same again. After going through a number of operations, treatments and therapies Alexander sadly died at the age of eight.
Being a parent of a child with additional needs, over the years I have come in contact with a number of charities supporting children and their families when they need it most. Therefore this year I am supporting Alexander Devine Children Hospice. Please join me in supporting the great work that Alexander Devine are doing by donating at my JustGiving page.
