Hello!

My name's Amber and I'm a student nurse studying at Kings College London. This summer, as part of my course, we have the opportunity to complete a 4 week placement in any chosen place.

I would love to go to an undeveloped part of the world with poor healthcare resources. Being born and raised in the UK I personally feel that it is sometimes easy to take our amazing NHS for granted and I would like to go somewhere to help others less fortunate and where good quality healthcare is not accessible to all.

There are several organisations that can support me with my elective who would help match me with a hospital/clinical setting and provide me with accommodation. The money I raise will go towards securing this and to helping the local community. I also require extra funding to go towards flights and any vaccinations I may require.

I was the last year of nursing students to receive the NHS bursary, which means I don't receive a student loan. Even though I am in favour of the NHS bursary scheme - it is a very small amount of money to live on and I wouldn't be able to do an elective with the money I receive from that alone and I really don't want to miss out on what would be an amazing opportunity.

This would be a unique opportunity to make a difference, give something back and help a community in need.
