Amber died of cancer at the age of 21. She fought an excellent fight but sadly succumbed in my arms. She knew she was dying so instructed me to start a shelter for women and their children fleeing domestic abuse. She insisted that the families pets be allowed to come with them as she was concerned that too many women remained in horrible circumstances because they were afraid of what would happen to their pets. She was wise beyond her years. So we had a business meeting. She wanted a facility for 6 families with ensuite bathrooms and communal and private lounges. Staff members were to wear pink. The facility would need to be on ones level to cater for any disabilities and there needed to be gardens to relax in and vegetable gardens to be self sufficient. She wanted therapists to work with the women and children and access to art activities as she had found great comfort during her painful illness in art. She knew that she wouldn't live to see it and had faith that I would make this happen. I've struggled with my grieving but need to move her dream forward. It's time. I made her a promise and she died believing in me to make this happen. So here I am, starting a process and feeling small, crushed by her absence and all my tomorrows without her. Please help me to put wings to this promise and deliver my daughters selfless dream. She was an angel long before she got her wings.
