Amelia & Matilda's RAFAC Expedition to Peru – Volunteer Fundraising
Hello! We’re Amelia and Matilda,
We are twin sisters from Fulham. We attend Lady Margaret School in Parsons Green and we are studying for our GCSEs. We are also Corporals in the 344(Fulham)Squadron of the RAF Air Cadets. It is a busy life!
We are delighted to have been selected for the Peru Expedition. For two weeks in August 2026, we will help build a school in a remote valley an hour away from Cusco. This project will support the education of around a hundred local kids and will have a long-lasting legacy.
WHY WE’RE FUNDRAISING
The trip is not a holiday. It’s a chance to make a real impact in the local community by helping build a school in a remote valley an hour away from Cusco, in South Peru. This project will benefit around a hundred young kids, who would have otherwise have to travel several hours to reach the next school.
The Expedition will also help us develop teamwork and resilience skills that will stay with us for life. This a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us, something we never thought possible. We are incredibly excited about it!
We need to raise £5,000, which is quite daunting for two young people and in this economic climate, so anything you can give will be very welcome and it will make a difference.
All the money we will raise will go towards building materials and classroom furniture.
To give an idea of impact and your contribution:
• £30 can cover the cost of some building materials like tins of paint, bags of gypsum and cement.
• £50 helps cover the costs of building equipment like wheelbarrows, shovels, trowels and ladders.
• £100 can buy class furniture like a black board, and a teacher’s desk and chair.
• £250 can furnish a whole class: black board, teacher’s desk and chair, pupils’ desks and chairs, and classroom cupboard.
OUR PERSONAL CONNECTION
We are proud of being part of the 344(Fulham)Squadron. We joined as Recruits in 2023 and since then we have been promoted to Corporals. Over the past two years, we have acquired so many news skills and had amazing experiences. At the Squadron, we do sport activities, we debate, we work on STEM projects, we organise events, and we play in our band. It is never boring, and it is an amazing group of people from across the Borough.
With our Squadron, we regularly take part in activities that support local community events, like selling Poppies in November, and taking part in events like the Remembrance Sunday Ceremony at the Fulham War Memorial and the VE Day Celebrations in Ravenscourt Park.
Being part of the RAF Air Cadets has helped us become more confident and has taught us the importance of contributing to our local community and to help make the world a better place.
A BIG THANK YOU
We’re truly grateful for any support you can give. Whether it’s a donation (large or small) or by simply sharing this page with friends and family, it all makes a difference. Thank you.
