Story

Hi my name is Amelia, I am 16 and I have just finished my GCSE's. Over the last few years I have tried to raise money for charity by making things such as: cards, bracelets and more. The reason I like to do this is because I want to help children who are ill as I know what it is like. Back when I was only 5, I was diagnosed with a rare and cancerous brain tumour called DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) unfortunately it was inoperable. I was then put on radiotherapy and chemotherapy hoping that it would shrink the tumour. After hearing this news I was told that I only had 10% chance of survival. At this point lots of people came together in my village and raised money for me to go to Disney Land, Lego Land and other places.I had a monthly scan, the results didn't look good. They told my parents I had 3 months to live. A few days later the hospital rang my parents and told them that a cyst had formed around the tumour and they wanted to drain it. After this I then went back on chemotherapy and the tumour suddenly went. Nobody thought that this would happen but incredibly it did ! All my doctors see me as a miracle. I am now fit and well and there is no sign of the tumour in my brain, I do still have some health problems due to my illness but I don't let these stand in my way of life.

I have decided to set up my own charity so I can help other charities in need. My aim is too make patchwork comfit blankets for children adults and animals with disabilities.

How it will work: I will ask people to donate money which buys a certain amount of fabric squares. When I have enough squares to make a blanket it will then be sent out to the chosen charity.

I will also ask people to nominate family and friends to keep the link going.

Hope this works I'm so excited.

Many thanks Amelia xx
