I'm raising £2500 to support families with a child in hospital for over 5 days – by launching Amelia’s Light.

When my daughter Amelia was recently in hospital for two weeks, I experienced the emotional and financial strain firsthand. I had to buy food, clothes, pay for petrol, tolls, and parking – all while trying to be fully present for her.
There was nowhere to turn for fast, emergency help. The charities that exist have great intentions, but the process takes too long. Forms, calls, waiting… By the time help arrives, the crisis has passed.
So I’m starting a new charity called Amelia’s Light, to change that.
This first £2,500 will go directly towards helping 10 families by providing same-day payments of £200 when they’re in hospital with their child for more than 5 days. It’s about showing up with compassion, speed, and trust – because when your child is unwell, you shouldn’t have to worry about whether you can afford a hot meal or a journey home.
If, for any reason, this project can’t launch as planned, all funds raised will be donated directly to Shooting Stars Hospice, who do incredible work supporting families like mine through some of the toughest times imaginable.
This is just the beginning – and I’d love your help to get it off the ground.
