    Story

This is a fund-raising attempt that will benefit me and if that fails, then the money raised will go to charity.

For those that don't know me, my name is Victor Kuyeli, an 18 year old Malawian boy who has lives in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England for a vast majority of my life and a huge football enthusiast. I attended St.Oswald's C of E primary school, then proceeding to Grange Technology College and am currently a student at Ilkley Grammar school as part of their sixth form to get my A-Levels. I am currently studying Media, Business and Physical education. I have had an ambition of living and studying in America for high school or university and was informed in late 2016 that this dream could become a reality by a close friend when he discovered an agency (FirstPoint USA) which could help me with the process of doing it, and straight away I signed up with just a little hope that I could actually pass the whole process.

As part of the first process, I had my first trials in December 2016 when I went on my trials with FirstPoint USA for a chance to earn a football (Soccer) scholarship in America. As many of the people close to me know, I got accepted and had an interview at Old Trafford for it - which was a great birthday present - but because of various factors including not having the money to pay the agency and the NCAA (National Collegial Athletics Association, who oversee everything in Americal University sports) for my eligibility to be allowed to play in the states and join the scholarship program I had to abandon the plans; however it was still a burning desire inside me to do. So I'm back with a new plan and more determination to carry out two of my biggest dreams playing football on a very competitive level, studying and living in America.

I re-registered and had my trials again on the 14th of Feb 2018 and found out I was accepted on the 16th of Feb 2018. I had my phone interview to check if I had the sufficient academic performance to join the program on the 23rd Feb 2018 and after a long interview with one of their sports consultants, I was accepted. Now the task is to raise enough money by the end of August to give me the best chance to go abroad and accomplish my dreams and also get a certified degree at the end of the four year experience. I know it's a lot of money and not everyone is willing to give or donate, but this would really mean a lot for me and my family, more especially my little brothers as they'll realize that dreams can still come true even in the hardest of times.

The funds will go towards paying for me being eligible to play in America and start my journey as I'll start to build my portfolio for coaches in the states to see. If the money is not successfully raised within the time I'd need then all the money will go to a charity that you'll decide when I make a survey and ask you to pick one.

I am in hope that some of the people I've helped through various youth activities and through the years are able to help form the foundation of the fund raising efforts. I will also be doing small activities and fund raising events to help raise money, these will include teachers vs student football match at school, a beer and hymns event, selling refreshments at school musicals, a coffee morning and hopefully a football tournament to do at Grange technology college. This should hopefully raise a fair amount of money, especially with the deposit fee of £600 needing to be paid by the 1st of June.

This would be a huge dream come true for me, something I've had on my mind since I was 8 years old. I am hopeful to raise the money by the end of August. I cannot stress how much this opportunity would mean to me.
