Story

My close friends will know that since visiting a Greek island I have been worried sick over 5 Cats. I can’t stop thinking about them.

I will sound like the crazy cat lady writing this but I can’t give up. My goal is to raise enough funding to capture these sick kittens, nurse them back to health, vaccinate and treat them and bring them over to the UK.

So here’s their story ...

We recently got back from an amazing holiday in Greece. Whilst on holiday we befriended 5 cats of about 4 / 5 months. Everyday the 5 cats came to visit us. We spent about €100 on cat food and fed and watered them twice a day.

All of the cats had cat flu. Their eyes were so red and the couple in the next door appartment said the smallest cat got hit by a taxi coming up the hill on the last night we were there. The man didnt even stop to see if the cat was ok. 😢

The whole time I didn‘t see the mother cat. Kittens learn off their mum and siblings to get socialised, hunt and find food and water.

These cats we found didn’t seem to have any concept of danger and the Greeks don’t seem to care if they are in the roads. They would make ideal pets, super friendly and would come if I called to them. They will not be able to find their own food due to the location of where we stayed. It was up a mountain in the middle of nowhere.

All of the shelters are full to capacity. Greece and the Greek Islands are all inundated with stray, abandoned and feral cats. The majority of them are born in the spring and survive through the kindness of tourists who feed them.At the end of the summer season the tourists leave and then some survive through the kindness of local Greeks, some die of starvation and some unfortunately fall foul of cat hating people who poison them.

All 5 cats need vet treatment for the cat flu and any injuries, Vaccines, neutering, rabies jabs, de-fleaing, worming and pass-porting. The cost of the travel and cattery is over £200 a cat also.

I know this is a big ask but time is essential. The resort we stayed at has closed, they will be getting weaker by the day. I can’t condem them. You can donate to make a change.

If I can’t raise enough to get all the babies to the uk then all the money will go to an amazing volunteer who is full to capacity. He has helped me and giving me invaluable information.
