Story
Living Bankside is pleased to host this years's Great Get Together Bankside as it returns to being an in-person event.
Now in its fifth year, The Great Get Together Bankside is part of a nationwide series of activities inspired by the memory of the late Jo Cox MP.
She believed the fundamental values of kindness, compassion and inclusivity are imperative to bridge division and create stronger communities.
As she, now famously, said ‘we have more in common than that which divides us.'
The theme will be around 'getting our community back together' after the challenges we have all faced in the last year due to the pandemic.
We will also celebrate the #moreincommon message and to champion our city's arts, culture and hospitality to support the Mayor of London's #letsdolondon initiative.
Speaking about the event, Amir Eden (Executive Chair of Living Bankside) said:
“As we emerge from lockdown restrictions, many in our community were keen to see the return of The Great Get Together Bankside in June."
At Living Bankside we are excited to take on the mantle to host this event, which is inspired by the life and values of the late Jo Cox MP - who's birthday would have occurred around this time.
Given the state of the world, this year’s event will be a scaled-back, slimmed-down affair but it will include many of the fun elements from previous years and some new twists.
Come along, catch up with old friends - or make some new ones – but remember to follow the latest health advice.”
The event will be held on Saturday, 26 June 2021 from 12:00 - 18:00 in and around the popular venue, Flat Iron Square (which sits along the Low Line), owned and managed by our supporter and partner Ben Lovett, a member of the Grammy Award winning band Mumford & Sons.
Living Bankside is delighted to work with a range of partners in order to host the event including a number of local cultural institutions such as the TATE, Shakespeare's Globe, Rose Playhouse, Borough Market, Southwark Cathedral and many more.
