Story
know most of you are aware on Tuesday 29th of January our lives started off as a normal day, but by the evening our lives had been ripped to pieces and we were thrown into a whirl wind. On that Tuesday Katherine went to Medoc, following being unwell for the weekend. After being in A&E, rushed through every department up to ICU, as Katherine went so fast downhill. From sitting and talking to us, to being out of it and having to be sedated. To being told Katherine has a brain Tumour and that’s why she can't see much and is now the way she is. Stepping foot in high dependence unit, to be told we are asking kings to look at her scans and looking to be moved to Kings Hospital in London. Programs, films, hearing people go through these situations never ever come close to the reality of living that situation. Thinking to yourself are we going to have to bury my daughter, girlfriend or sister. Listening to the head of ICU in Medway say in 25yrs experience, he’s never seen a tumour so big. Katherine was then rushed up to Kings hospital, were you meet with so much more thrown at you. The neuro consultant says things like complex, rare, need to operate urgently. We were lucky enough to have a few confused words with Katherine before her operation, but again she went downhill quickly. We were also then told Katherine has also had a stroke & they are very concerned that during her OP she could have another one. Because of kings saying Katherine's case was complex and rare, she had a whole team of more than one person in a field making up her team. Every day has been like a rollercoaster, that you’re not allowed to get off. The first night she was at kings Katherine's mum, boyfriend and I made up camp in the waiting room as we had nowhere else to sleep. After asking around, we got referred to the salvation army as they have accommodation, in their training college about 5 mins walk. By the grace of God, we are still living there in our 1 bed flat, free of charge. Just that act by the salvation army, is what has enabled us to cope, be at Katherine's bed from morning till night. Katherine still doesn't know fully what's happened and what she’s gone through, we had few days of lots of Doctors, consultants saying they are very concerned and confused of why Katherine hasn't woken up like they thought.
Katherine being Katherine has not only had her own team of specialists come together for her, but her consultant shared at a conference about Katherine and how complex, rare things they were fighting with. Her consultant said everyone in that room discussed how they could help Katherine, and combined she had over 100yrs experience. WOW not everyone can have a story like Katherine is going to have. After Katherine battling so hard against everything the specialists have said, and by the grace of God. Katherine is awake and we've been able to give her loads of kisses and tell her we love her. She still has a long road of recovery, and now we don't know what that road will be. Her Doctors in critical care unit are amazed at how she is doing, as the other day they told us she had to have a step backwards. Katherine's neuro consultant, who operated and has been amazing, is shocked at how well Katherine is doing the last few days. As most of you know, my sister is a strong lady, who will fight and give her all for everything. And right now, she is proving this.
So, loads of people who have known Katherine, some 15yrs +, or only just meet her. Have asked what they can do. Anyone who knows Katherine well, knows her family is the most important thing to her. Thank you so much in advance, for all your concerns, prayers, well wishes, Donations for Katherine
