Story
On December 22nd, my Dad passed away after suffering a huge stroke. He'd been in hospital for 19 days, prior to this due to pneumonia and other repercussions of having treatment for cancer 2 years ago.
When the stroke happened, he had been due to be sent home, as he'd been making pretty good progress, but would still need a lot of care.
2 days after he'd been transferred to the stroke ward, I was told he had just hours to live. His family gathered around him, and we sat with him all day, all night, and most of the following day when he decided his time had come.
On October 7th 2017, what would have been my Dad's 53rd birthday, I'm taking a casual walk up Ben Nevis. Accompanied by Kayleigh and Kev.
Dad was very proud of his Scottish roots, so I will be scattering some of his ashes when we make it to the top.
What I want is to raise money for the Stroke unit at Scunthorpe General Hospital. For things to help the victims of strokes, and their families. I'd like the money to help them find a way to help stroke victims to communicate with their families and friends, because the worst part for me was seeing my Dad get frustrated and upset because he couldn't talk to us, and when he did, we couldn't understand his mumbles.
I want to raise at least £1000 😄
Thanks!
Amy (and kayleigh and kev)

7 years agoThe money will be put into my PayPal account and then transferred into my bank account and I will take a cheque to the hospital when finished. I don't know how to donate directly to the hospital, so I'm doing it this way 😄 also, will try to keep extending the end date, as we have 10 months until the walk 😊
