Story
I am one of the many unfortunate people who have experienced rape, sexual abuse and domestic violence. Not many people know of my story, or my journey, but I wouldn't be the person I am today if it wasn't for the counselling I received at St Barnabas. I will never 'get over' what happened to me, but I have learnt to deal with it, accept it and allow it to be a part of me. I am no longer a victim, I am me. They have helped me get my self-esteem, self-confidence and self-worth back. It's ok to love myself and not feel ashamed. Counselling is not cheap, and if I can help just one other person it'll be worth it. Even if you donate as little as £1 it WILL make a difference. Please help me help others.
St Barnabas Counselling Centre was founded in 1974 and is a registered charity. We are an open organisation with no religious affiliations..
We are a counselling centre fully accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This means that the work we do and the way the centre is run meets very stringent professional standards.
We offer a range of counselling options which include low-cost daytime appointments and full-cost appointments in the evening. Providing a caring environment:
We aim to offer you a warm, caring and safe environment. It is important to have a caring ethos for everyone we see, and clients have told us the difference this makes. We recognise that some people may be unable to pay for the full cost of counselling themselves, and we aim to help you irrespective of your circumstances.
You may self refer - you do not need to be referred by your GP and we are one of the largest independent counselling providers in Norfolk. We have some 25 professionally trained counsellors. All are qualified to advanced or post graduate diploma level (or equivalent) or are completing their training. All have regular counselling supervision.
