Weʼve raised £1,235 to Purchase a nannobubble pump from the USA for our daughter.

Funded on Saturday, 31st August 2019

    Story

Many people who know us will know that our youngest daughter was born with an extremely rare and severe skin disorder called Harlequin Ichthyosis.
This is a mutation in a gene that controls skin growth and structure which means that Poppy rapidly produces excess skin and also lacks fatty layers that give our skin elasticity to make it 'stretchy'. This means that her skin also cracks very easily. The disorder can limit movement, hearing and eyesight, puts her at risk of dehydration, means that she cannot regulate her body temperate and also puts her at risk of severe and life threatening infections.
We are raising money for a 'nannobubble portable pump'. This is a piece of equipment that oxygenates the water differently which helps excess skin to shed more effectively, helps movement of limbs and reduces risk of infection. We are purchasing the pump from a company in America called the 'White Water Company'.
In total, we need to raise around £6000 to allow for cost of the pump, insurance, income tax and delivery charge.
Poppy's disorder is lifelong and cannot be cured, symptoms are managed via heavy emollients and long, daily baths in addition to many other things such as physiotherapy and regular appointments with various medical teams.
We'd love to be able to raise money for a Nannobubble pump in the hope of generally making Poppy's bathing routine as effective as possible.
Should we go over the donation target, the money will be spent on getting Poppy a Dyson heater/cooler to help her transition into the different seasons as this is always an ongoing challenge.

A final note to say, Poppy is a happy, loving little girl and is not defined by her disorder. She makes us all proud each day and has the BEST brother and sister!
We all love you loads, Mom, Dad, Kaydon, Isabella and your partner in crime, 'Our black doggy!' Xxx
