Story
I am fund raising for myself to go on a 3 week project aid expedition to Madagascar in July 2019.
Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world and is also one of the poorest. The terrain consists of a central mountain range, lowlands covered in rainforests, semi-deserts, grasslands and coastal beaches. Because of its isolation more than 80 % of the plant and animal species are seen nowhere else on Earth.
As part of the expedition I will be:
Taking part in a 4 day camp and trek
Carrying out a community project to develop a sustainable future for the locals eg helping with renovations at a school, labouring alongside local tradesmen or assisting with developing basic infrastructure to encourage eco-tourism. All projects are designed to alleviate poverty in the area.
Organising activities for local children at a children’s home
As well as all of this It will be a life changing, fun and educational experience that I hope will aid with my self-confidence, teach me fundraising and entrepreneurial skills, enable me to appreciate a very different way of life and allow me to immerse myself in the local culture. I also hope it will help me get over my fear of snakes !!!
I have to raise all of the money myself so will be doing various cake sales, sponsored events, bric a brac sales etc. Any donations, no matter how small, are very much appreciated
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for supporting me and Madagascar.
