Story

Buhumba Primary School is a rural school in southwest Uganda. The school has no electricity, no running water and is inadequately funded. When we visited in 2015, we used the money you kindly donated to buy books, pens and pencils for every child in the school, enough to last a whole year. Parents are normally expected to provide these items for each child, and if they can't afford to buy these the children can't attend school, so you helped make it possible for hundreds of children to stay in school. We also bought drums and other musical instruments that are used every day in lessons and assembly. Music is a huge part of school life in Uganda and good drums are vital.

With your help, this year we would like to create a vegetable garden to grow beans so that Buhumba primary school can become self-sufficient in order to provide school lunches for the children. The aim is to promote the education, health and well-being of the children by providing a nutritious meal each day. When children are provided with lunch at school the difference to the children is tangible - increased attendance, better concentration, more energy and improved results.
