I work as a nurse in cardiology and a lot of the patients we care for have heart failure. This essentially means the pumping function of the heart isn’t working properly and causes some horrible symptoms. This involves fluid building up in places it shouldnt be; such as the legs- which causes them to swell and can be painful, and sometimes also the lungs. One of the main symtoms is breathlessness, and often these patients need to sleep sitting upright to be able to breathe and with their legs elevated to reduce swelling, so recliner chairs are really important for them. We only have a few in the whole cardiology department and even the ones we have need replacing. We are trying to raise as much money as we can to buy as many chairs as possible as there’s no funding- I will be doing a FIVE HOUR sponsored silence in aid of this (anyone who knows me is probably thinking ill never do it!!!!) and any donation no matter how small would be so appreciated !! :)
